Tracks with * I consider essential listens or classics from a western point of view of listening, as tracks to check out for sure because they seem to stand out as such. This makes them also very suitable for western radio show airplay. Tracks that are only underlined can be considered fine tracks you might better check out as well, but I am not sure how essential they really are. A second mild listen could easily add a few more tracks to consider.

Hardrockish album which still listens for most part rather fine, even when more tracks sound more pop-rockish, which will surely appeal less to people with certain expectations, the lack of harder edge near the end also give it a less convincing ending.
The harder tracks still sound strongest (electric guitars, drums and Hammond organ).
This chosen track for airplay more or less stands out as being the best execution of their style. If all tracks were equally good this would have been a great collector. Unfortunately the mellower edge is stronger.
PS. In the summer of 1979, the 2nd TBC Young Children's Song Festival held at the Sejong Center gave a lot of hits. The festival was recorded on film. One of the better tracks on the 2nd TBC Young Children's Song Festival was the song 'Yeon', by Linus, as a representative of the group sound of Korea University-Yonsei University.
70년대 후반에서 80년대 초반은 캠퍼스 밴드의 전성시대였다.
대학을 가는 목적에는 밴드를 조직하여 학교행사 뿐 아니라 대학가요제나 젊은이의 가요제 그리고 훗날 다온 강변가요제 그리고 대학가요축제에 출전하는 것이었다.
그런데 이런 가요제를 하는 이유엔 정권차원에서 학생들 시위를 막고자 하는 의도가 있었고 어느 정도의 효과가 있었다.
사람들은 당시가 살기 좋았다고 하는데 평범하게 사는 이들은 체감을 못하지만 독재정권을 위해 싸운 지식인들과 젊은 대학생들에겐 어둠의 시대였고 그들과 가족들은 많은 고통을 받았다.
그러나 중고생들이 보기엔 대학가라는 이미지가 마냥 행복하고 축제를 하는 낭만의 장소였다.
보통 학교의 메인밴드는 학교의 지원을 받아 써클룸도 만들고 악기도 마련하기도 하는데 규율이 엄격했고 깃수별로 서열이 있었으며 연대책임과 함께 무조건 공연을 뛰는게 아니며 2학년 때 주활동을 하고 1학년 때는 면접을 보고 선배들 하는 걸 배우고 뒷치닥거리를 했다.
그러나 2학년이 가요제에 나가기 위한 연습을 하다가 뭔가 조짐이 안좋으면 깃수를 넘어 잘하는 선배나 후배가 투입되고 2학년들 중 가요제 출전을 못하는 구성원의 비중이 늘면 그 깃수는 역사에서 사라지는 경우도 있었고 구성원 몇 명만 남아 동아리 활동을 했었다.
가끔 후배들이 주축인 밴드에 참여하여 가요제 입상을 한 사람들이 항공대의 배철수 그리고 건국대의 홍서범 중앙대의 이규석 같은 이들이다.
특히 이규석 같은 이는 가수로 알려졌지만 원래는 학교 메인밴드 블루드레건에서 기타를 치던 연주자였다.
아무튼 학교의 메인밴드에 가입하지 않고도 타학교와 연합을 하여 밴드를 조직한 이들도 있는데 이들은 고등학교의 인연도 있지만 입소문과 소개로 만나 연주를 했고 또는 소문난 가수를 영입하기도 했었다.
연을 부른 라이너스(Linus)는 젊은이의 가요제 상을 받으며 한글이름 범수리(고대를 대표하는 호랑이 연대를 대표한 독수리)라는 이름으로 다시 고쳐서 불러졌는데 당시 밴드의 구성원은 가수 기타 고 최광수 베이스 문영삼 , 건반 김광민 드럼 이규황으로 고려대와 연세대의 학생들이 모여서 가요제에서 입상을 한 후 판을 냈는데 리드기타에 마그마에서 기타를 친 김광현을 가입시켜 팀을 보강한다.
자세히 들어보면 젊은이의 가요제에서 나온 '연'과 다르다.
이것이 독집이며 당시 오래 활동은 하지 않았으나 영향력은 컷고 일부는 전공을 찾아 갔고 김광민 같은 연주자는 더 공부하고 유학도 다녀와 우리나라 대중음악계에 큰 획을 긋는다.
이들의 노래는 여러곡이 있으나 그래도 가장 유명한 노래가 연이며 다양한 사람들이 불렀고 겨울 바람이 불어 올때면 방송을 타고 흘러나왔다.
다른 밴드도 그렇지만 구성원들의 연주실력이 좋았고 화합 또한 잘 되었던 것 같다.
훗날 다른 대학 캠퍼스 밴드 출신들과 연합하여 연주를 하기도 했고 과거의 유명세를 다시 확인시키기도 했다.
The late 70's and early 80's were the heyday of campus bands.
It was given a purpose of going to college and to organize a band and participate in not only school events but also college songs, with youth songs, and later riverside songs on college song festivals. The reason for doing this song was to intentionally prevent student based demonstrations at the regime level and this had some effect.
People say it was a good time to live, but ordinary people could not feel it, because it was a dark age for intellectuals and young college students who fought against the dictatorship, and they and their families suffered a lot. However, the image of a college student was a happy and festive place for the middle and high school students.
In general, the main band of the school, with the support of the school, also produced a circle room and arranged the provision of musical instruments. I watched my seniors and learned to play. The second graders were practicing to go to the festival, and at the time when there were some signs that were not good, the seniors or juniors who are well over the flag are put in, the number of members not participating in the festival increased in history. Only some people remained in the club activities.
Occasionally, those who participated in a band, and whose juniors were the main actors, won the song festival, such as Bae Chul-soo of the Airline and Lee Kyu-seok of the Konkuk University's Hong Seo-bum. In particular, Lee Kyu-suk, who was known as a singer, was originally a guitar player in the school's main band Blue Dragon. Anyway, some of them joined the other schools without joining the main band of the school and organized the bands. They had high school ties but played with word of mouth and introduction, or recruited famous singers.
Linus, who sang the kite, was re-named as the Korean name Bum-Suri (Ancient Eagle Representative), which won the Young Children's Song Festival award. Kim Kwang-min drummers Kyu-hwang Lee and students from Korea University and Yonsei University gathered together to make a prize at the Song Festival.
If you listen closely, it is different from 'yeon' from the young people's song festival.
This is a solo piece, but it has not been active for a long time, but its influence has been cut off, and some have gone to majors. There are many songs of them, but the most famous songs are kites, and various people sang, and when the winter winds blow, they were broadcasted. The other bands, too, performed well and the members seemed to work well together. He later played in concert with other college campus bands and reaffirmed his past fame.
