Tracks can be found here: V.A.: Music Museum 200 Best of (CD-box) CD4-12 엄마와 아빠의 왈츠 / Mama and Dady Waltz (1969) This is an American cover often sung in country circles, where it became a slow romantic waltz with arranged strings. Tracks with * I consider essential listens or classics, also very suitable for western radioshow airplay. Tracks that are only underlined, without *, might be considered interesting tracks as well, for various reasons. #KoreanPop #H

황인자 - Hwang In-Ja
Tracks you can find here: Domido Best Collection 100 Vol. 1 CD4-12 양철집 아가씨 / Tin house lady This is up tempo old pop music, arranged with hum papa rhythms, accordion and a small combo of live arrangements. Tracks with * I consider essential listens or classics, also very suitable for western radioshow airplay. Tracks that are only underlined, without *, might be considered interesting tracks as well, for various reasons. I am not sure how essential this track is. It surely is

현미 - Hyeon Mi / Hyun Mee
Another voice I picked out to check better after having listened to the Domido label compilation 5 CD-box is Hyeon Mi. Here it is a bit difficult for me to describe what kind of music or style she sings in. I have the impression there’s a gifted composer behind the music too, holding it ever in between many genres, from crooner/ballroom singing to pop and soulful rock, and of course we have a good voice being able to express with a certain distance a proportionate association

쟈니 리 - Johnny Lee (KeyBoys)
Tracks you can find here: V.A.: Music Museum 220 Best of 1 뜨거운 안녕 / A passionate Hello (1959) 10 내일은 해가 뜬다 / Tomorrow, it will come (1966) Johnny Lee has a slightly hissed voice while being able to vary his voice and turn quickly to more power, with a bit crooner-like singing. This slow song on the breach of a cry is completely fit for his voice. The arrangements are bass, drums, (and some accordion), with additional strings and some brass harmonies. The second song has a mor

강홍식 / 姜 弘 植 - Kang Ho-Sik (Chang Ho-Sik)
The first 9 songs of this compilation show how Kang Ho Sik must have been involved in early song music of the first movies with sound and music. This sounds more adventurous than conservative, of which the music still has the humpapa rhythms of Japanese occupation rules, but the arrangements and songs still show pleasant variations. The first track has a more classical-orchestrated feel to the music arrangements with clarinet, piano, flutes, violin and percussion. The second

정원 - Jung Won
You can find tracks here: V.A.: Music Museum 220 Best of (CD-Box) CD6-11 무작정 걷고싶어 / I want to walk aimlessly (1967) This track is a sort of tango/bolero-pop with electric guitar and accordion with a bit of extra arrangements like picked violins, a song which dances its story slowly towards its goal... CD10-16 배신자 / Traitor (1967) "Traitor" has the same way of slowly developing the song, this time in a bit more crooner way, singing the way someone cries. The accompaniment is b

김계자 / Kim Hee-Ya
A track you can find here: V.A.: Music Museum 220 Best (CD Box) * CD3-22 귀여운 베이비 / Cute Baby (1964) -ref. "Pretty Little Baby" Connie Francis- This is a cover of an attractive singalong and dance gentle-with-it pop song which is a nice and original re-interpretation of Connie Francis hit from 1962. Here it became a rather sensual pop hit with electric rhythm guitar, drums and sax and a bit of extra arrangements (piano,..). Tracks with * I consider great or essential listens,

손시향 - Lee Sohn
Tracks can be found on: V.A.: Music Museum 220 Best (CD Box) * CD1-4 이별의 종착역 / End of separation (1960) Lee Sohn has a warm voice in the aftermath tradition of Elvis Presley. This is a warm bluesy song with a calm and simple blues tune guitar picking lead. There’s also a country whistle tune part in it. Tracks with * I consider essential tracks to check out. Tracks that are only underlined might be of the same category. All these tracks are suitable to be heard on a western r

남성봉 - Nam In-Su
Tracks can be found here: 가요(歌謠) 박물관 [Disc 2] * CD1-5 서울행 3등실 / 서울행 3등실 / 3rd class towards Seoul (1960) This is an original song rooted in the trot genre which I assume fits well to someone sitting in a train cabin traveling to Seoul and looking forward to reach its goal, full enthusiasm. The musical theme itself is led by accordion while a few other instruments add colorful accents. Suddenly an electric slide theme of an American song is incorporated. Everyone knows it but
