오기택 - Oh Ki-Taek / Oh Kitaek
For a so-called compilation of 50s/60s songs I never expected such a rather cheap taste of Moog-like arrangements, with over-simplified electronic pum-pum-pum rhythms mixed with a separately recorded voice (in right channel) with artificial reverb. This bizarre direct modernised interpretation in a Trot style, like a rather circus-café jukebox-alike electronically arranged music still has a certain flair of charm because of the Korean melodies but of course, I cannot recommen

1+1 / 원플러스원 / One Plus One (& Light Of The East)
Technically these are good voices of western-styled, soft mainstream song based pop music with a Korean touch. Good for its genre, but less the sort of music for collectors of psychedelic and acid folk. Most of it contains more mainstream songs, but especially the 6th track in delicate folk-pop style is worth taking out. I was a bit quick in reviewing this one in those early days. After so many years, I can say that I can really easily appreciate the harmony feeling in these

어니언스 - Onions
This looks like a "best of" from the South-Korean duo called Onions. In their repertoire there must be some better and more original songs. Most of these 16 most popular songs are mellow, almost schlager-like songs arranged with strings, oboe, some drums and organ and acoustic guitar mostly, a few are more folk-pop. The vocal harmonies are always nice. At least two tracks stand out much better. The sixth track, a sad song, is played with acoustic picking guitar and is sung wi

Otherwise the song itself is mainstream styled, while the lightness and singing give it a certain feeling of originality. 도미도 베스트 컬렉션 100 VOL.1 / 50-60 Domido * CD2-16 첫사랑 맘보 / First Love Mambo "First Love Mambo" is of course differ

Oh Se-Eun (<Idol/Namsadang)
Radio show comments: "Track 8 is a longer track with a worked out acoustic guitar intro. Other instruments for improvisation within the song are electric guitar and piano, and further on some female vocalist for a couple of high notes with a few other singers." This third album sounds better or more attractive compared to the already reviewed fourth album. This is slightly melancholic, mostly acoustic folk/pop/rock with nice arrangements: songs led by male lead vocals with so
