I had to listen a couple of times to this release before being able to judge in a prepared and balanced way, the music and its musical focus.
Some song choices have a tendency to entertain with the songs, somewhat light and happy. But a closer listen reveals in fact an interesting enough band, and their well fitting arrangements. Even on the lighter songs, with relaxed humpapa or pompompom rhythms, the band repeats the melody on keyboards or guitar (even with some occasional wa-wa pedal) or show small, slightly groovy improvisations on the melodies, a few arrangements very subtle only confirm the rhythmic progressions (like some light rhythmic strums). And sometimes these keyboards really are worth giving some attention to, even on adult lullaby-like songs like the 7th track. On the ninth track there are funny coconut rhythms used.
The third track is just slightly rockier in a relaxed way, the subtle groove (like a funkier bass) with the keyboards solos is again a good track to pick out for airplay.
A few tracks (like track 6 and 8) have a responding male voice too.
Somewhat odd for its purpose is the choice of a marching rhythm song (track 6), this track has also some trombone.

데뷔시절의 청명하고 고운 목소리가 담긴 만년 하이틴 소녀 김인순 첫 독집 앨범! [여고 졸업반]으로 유명한 70년대 포크가수 고 김인순이 세상을 떠난 지도 30년이 지났다. 잘 알려지지 않은 그녀의 데뷔음반이자 첫 독집이 오리지널 Lp로 다시 발매된다는 소식에 불현듯 그녀의 노래를 무지 좋아했던 까까머리 소년 시절의 내 모습이 떠올랐다. 마치 까맣게 잊어버렸던 첫사랑과의 두근거리는 재회처럼 오랜만에 그녀의 데뷔음반을 다시 꺼내 들었다. 이건 순수했던 그 시절로 돌아간 것 같은 뭉클한 추억여행이었다. 70년대에 김인순은 라디오 방송의 Dj겸 포크팝 가수로 유명했다. 미인은 아니었지만 웃음을 머금을 때 움푹 파였던 보조개와 시원한 목소리로 인해 남학생들에게 꽤나 인기가 많았다. 그녀를 생각하니 여고생을 소재로 한 히트곡과 하이틴 영화의 주제가를 도맡아 불렀던 해맑은 여고생 이미지가 세월이 정지된 듯 그대로 되살아난다. 1953년에 서울에서 태어난 김인순은 맑은 목소리로 인해 남산초등학교 2학년 때 Kbs 어린이 성우로 재능을 발휘했다, 노래에도 재주가 많아 서울시립합창단 창단멤버에 이어 메트로폴리탄 합창단원으로도 활약했다. 운동에도 소질이 있던 그녀는 서울시 육상대회에 출전해 3위에 입상하기도 했다. 그렇게 다재다능했던 그녀의 별명은 '8방미인'을 넘어 '64방미인'이었다. 중학교에 진학해 음악콩쿠르에서 3위에 입상하며 성악가의 꿈을 키웠던 그녀는 명문 이화여고 시절에는 교내방송의 아나운서와 합창단 지휘자로 활동했다. 여고생 김인순은 기타를 치는 막내오빠의 모습에 반하면서 팝송과 만났다. 곧 오빠를 능가하는 기타연주솜씨를 뽐냈던 그녀는 교내에서 7번의 개인리사이틀을 열었을 정도로 이화여고의 소문난 노래꾼으로 학내외에 명성을 날렸다. 1972년 9월의 어느 날. 매일같이 교문 앞에서 그녀를 기다리는 30대 남성이 있었다. Cbs 라디오「세븐틴」의 김진성Pd다. 당시 소문난 학생 노래꾼들을 발굴했던 그의 표적이 된 김인순의 맑은 노래가 라디오 전파를 타면서 예상을 뛰어넘는 애청자들의 뜨거운 반응을 몰고 왔다. 대학입시에 낙방한 그녀는 성우가 되려는 생각으로 방송국에 갔다. 그때 유명 포크가수이자 라디오 Dj 이장희를 우연히 만났다. 이미 Cbs방송을 통해 김인순의 노래실력을 알고 있었던 이장희는 즉석에서 자신이 진행했던「0시의 다이얼」에 그녀를 게스트로 초청했다. 성우가 되려했던 그녀가 생각지도 않게 1974년 5월에 데뷔앨범을 발표하며 대중가수의 길을 걷게 되는 운명적인 순간이었다. 43년 만에 재발매된 바로 이 음반이다. 김인순의 데뷔앨범이자 첫 독집은 그녀의 디스코그라피 중에서 가장 희귀한 아이템이다. 신인가수의 데뷔음반이고 특별한 히트곡이 없었기에 현재 이 음반은 실물 구경이 쉽지 않지 않다. 하지만 이 음반에는 당대 청소년들의 마음을 사로잡았던 김인순의 때 묻지 않고 풋풋한 데뷔시절의 낭랑하고 맑은 목소리가 고스란히 담겨 있다. 당대의 탁월한 포크 싱어송라이터들인 사월과 오월의 백순진, 이정선, 전설적인 오세은과 강태웅 그리고 어니언스의 미남가수 이수영까지 무려 5명의 작곡가들이 이 앨범에 신곡을 제공하며 참여한 것은 당시 신인가수 김인순에 대한 제작사의 기대를 말해준다. 비슷한 시기에 등장했던 어니언스와 김정호를 통해 포크송의 대중화에 공헌했던 안건마가 편곡에 참여한 음반이라는 점도 이 앨범의 가치에 남다른 의미를 부여한다. 수록곡들은 어니언스의 노래로 알려진 [초저녁 별]과 이정선의 데뷔앨범에 [비오는 날에]로 먼저 수록된 [비오는 날에는] 외에는 발굴 수준에 가까운 미지의 노래들이다. 데뷔시절 방송에서 통기타를 치며 포크송과 팝송을 즐겨 불렀던 김인순은 비상업적인 창작곡들을 선곡하는 음악적 취향을 드러냈다. 이정선, 오세은, 백순진, 강태웅 같은 창작자들의 노래가 그녀의 데뷔앨범에 선곡된 이유일 것이다. 김인순은 창작에도 재능을 보였다. [그리운 너]는 김인순이 작사 작곡한 창작곡이고 [외로운 소녀]의 가사도 그녀가 직접 썼다. 당시 대중가요계에 창작이 가능했던 여성싱어송라이터의 개체는 천연기념물만큼이나 희소했다. 이 앨범은 전반적으로 잔잔하게 가슴에 파고드는 김인순의 보컬이 중심을 이룬 서정적인 트랙들로 구성되어 있다. 또한 탁월한 편곡자 안건마의 손길이 느껴지는 음반답게 노래들의 색채와 질감에 따라 남성코러스, 통기타, 색소폰, 바이올린, 피아노가 적절하게 배치되어 정갈한 연주를 들려준다. 수록곡 중 백순진 곡 [가을밤]은 이 앨범이 백미라 할 수 있는 숨겨진 명곡이고 오세은 곡 [비오던 밤]도 70년대 포크송에서는 거의 경험하지 못했던 블루지한 색소폰 연주가 담겨 있으니 꼭 한 번 들어보시길 추천한다. 히트수준은 아니었지만 데뷔앨범을 통해 가능성을 인정받았던 김인순은 1974년 국내 최초의 가요제인 한국가요제 본선에 진출하며 대중가수로서 성공적인 활동 동력을 획득했다. 친화력이 대단했던 신인가수 김인순은 1974년 6월부터 Kbs 라디오「젊은이의 광장」의 Dj를 맡으며 본격적인 활동에 돌입했다. 4개월 후에는 포크가수 양희은의 뒤를 이어 Tbc 동양라디오의「팝송 다이얼」의 진행을 맡아 청순한 이미지와 맑은 목소리로 남녀 중고등학생들에게 어필했다. 또한 쾌활한 소녀 이미지로 인해 코카콜라 등 시원한 분위기를 필요로 하는 Cm송 가수로도 각광받으며 인지도를 쌓아갔다. 군사정권의 대숙청이 이뤄졌던 1975년은 김인순에겐 오히려 음악인생에 큰 획을 그려주었던 해였다. 그해 8월에 개봉한 김응천감독의 하이틴 영화「여고졸업반」은 하이틴 영화 전성시대를 몰고 온 흥행을 기록했다. 여자주인공이었던 여학생배우 임예진은 대종상 신인상을 수상하며 청소년의 우상으로 떠올랐고 김인순이 부른 주제가 [여고 졸업반]도 그해 최고의 히트를 기록했다. 이 앨범이 아닌 1975년 7월에 발매한 골든 포크앨범 12집에 처음 발표된 김인순의 대표곡 [여고 졸업반]은 다행스럽게도 이번에 재발매된 이 Lp에 보너스 트랙으로 오리지널 버전으로 수록되었다. 김인순은 영화주제가로 인해 각 방송의 가요순위에서 처음으로 1위를 차지하며 스타덤에 올랐다. 이후 하이틴 영화의 단골 주제가 가수로 이미지를 굳혔다. 1978년 결혼한 그녀는 성인가수로 거듭나려 노력했지만 이미 대중에게 각인된 소녀가수 이미지는 극복하기 힘든 벽이었다. 2년간의 공백기를 보낸 후 컴백했던 그녀는 1988년 5월 18일 오후 11시 40분께 인천 가좌동 사거리 동흥전기 앞길에서 35살의 젊은 나이에 세상을 떠났다. 인천시내 모 밤업소 출연 후 승용차를 타고 경인고속도로를 통해 귀가하던 중 과속으로 달려오던 7.5톤 덤프트럭이 그녀의 로얄 살롱 승용차 운전석을 받아버린 대형 사고였다. 30년이 세월이 지난 지금, 그녀의 고운 데뷔시절 목소리가 담긴 첫 독집이 부활해 우리에게 조용하게 다가왔다. 이 앨범에 수록된 김인순의 노래들은 히트곡 [여고졸업반]에만 매몰된 그녀에게는 음악적인 재평가의 계기를, 그리고 우리는 오랫동안 곁에 두고 싶은 친구 같은 아름다운 노래들을 선물 받았다. 글=최규성 대중문화평론가. 한국대중가요연구소 대표

Chasing her dreams she succeeded becoming a vocalist very soon. Still in high school Kim In - Soon sung a pop song accompanied by her younger brother playing the guitar. Soon after she showed that her guitar playing skills surpassed her brother. She opened seven personal recitals on campus and earned her reputation as a reputable songwriter of the Ewha Girls' High School. One day in September 1972. After returning from a two-year vacancy, she died at the age of 35 on May 18, 1988, at 11:40 pm, on the way to Donghae-dong, Gajwa-dong, Incheon. A 7.5-ton dump truck that ran speedily while returning home from the Gyeongin Expressway on a passenger car after appearing in the Incheon city's Mohommae created a huge accident.
