신중현의 질문들과 ‘소울 가수들’의 대답들
얼마 전, 지금은 잊혀진 가수 박인수를 위한 공연 ‘리멤버 박인수 사랑의 콘서트(7월 9~10일 오후 7시 30분 KBS 88체육관)’가 열렸다. 이 콘서트 첫 날에 맞춰 방영된 TV 한 다큐멘터리에서도 그의 모습이 조명되었는데, 그는 예전의 명성과는 판이하게 극도로 불우한 말년을 보내고 있었다. 이 다큐멘터리에서 그가 중간중간 흥얼거리던 노래, 박인수를 세간에 널리 알린 노래, 그 노래는 바로 “봄비”다.
덩키스가 해체된 후 신중현은 몇몇 (단기성) 프로젝트들을 이끌었다. 1970년 초 정성조 등과 함께 결성했던 ‘신중현 오케스트라’나, ‘제로 악단’과 ‘퀘션스(Questions: 이 밴드명은 당시 퀘션스와 퀘스쳔스 둘 다 혼용되어 사용되었다)’가 바로 그것이다. 당시 퀘션스(혹은 신중현)의 명성은, 유니버살에서 ‘Go Go Gala Party’ 시민회관 공연을 ‘몰래’ 녹음하여 7월에 발매한 [신중현의 In-A-Kadda-Da-Vida(KLH 24)]의 존재만으로도 짐작할 수 있다. 퀘션스의 첫 음반 [여보세요_그대는 바보]는 1970년 5월에 발매되었다.
당시의 몇몇 기록을 보자. “1970년 1월 3일, ‘사이키 사운드’를 대표하는 두 그룹인 퀘션스와 히 화이브와 함께 명동의 ‘코스모스’ 살롱에서 연주를 했다([일간 스포츠] 1970년 1월 18일)”는 요지의 기록이, “TBC의 최장수 빅 쇼인 TBC ‘쇼쇼쇼’에 송만수가 출연하여 신중현의 퀘스천스와 함께 “킥 아우트 잼”이란 사이키 곡을 연주한다([일간 스포츠] 1970년 2월 7일)”는 기록이 있다. “유네스코 빌딩의 스카이 파크에서 3개월 계약으로 공연 중. … 이들 멤버는 ‘신중현과 그 일행들’에 나온 것과 동일([가요 생활] 1970년 9월호 “연예인 동향 – 보컬그룹”).” 이상의 기록에서도, 1년 정도의 기간 동안 활발한 활동을 펼친 이들의 지명도를 예측할 수 있다. ‘사이키델릭 밴드’라는 음악적 정체도 역시.

션스는 ‘밴드 반주 + 객원 가수의 노래’라는 포맷을 기본 골격으로 한다. 밴드의 주축은 신중현과 더불어 이태현(베이스), 김민랑(오르간), 김대환(드럼)이다. 이태현과 김민랑은 덩키스 시절부터 함께 해온 멤버들임을 볼 때 퀘션스는 이전의 성과를 계승 발전시킨 형태가 아닐까. 밴드가 빚어낸 사운드에 노래를 입힌 이들은 ‘객원’ 가수들(송만수, 임성훈 등 신인 가수와 더불어 박인수, 임희숙, 김상희, 김추자 등 기존에 함께 작업했던 가수)이다. 바로 이러한 호소력 있는 보컬리스트들이 이 음반의 분위기를 주도한다. 특히 여기서 가장 주목할 만한 가수는 박인수일 것이다. 이 음반을 통해 성공적으로 공식 데뷔한 그는, 진하고 풍부한 성량의 창법으로 정평이 나 있다. 한국에서 ‘소울 가수’라 불리는 한 공식에 가장 잘 부합하는 보컬리스트가 아닐까.
이 음반에서 세 곡 연달아 박인수의 노래가 흐른다. 여가수(임희숙으로 추정)가 화음을 넣어준 흥겨운 업템포의 “여보세요”에서는 시원하게 내뻗는 목소리를, 느린 곡조 속에 기타 간주가 돋보이는 “기다리겠오(그 사람)”에서는 절규하는 듯한 목소리를 보여준다. 그러나 뭐니뭐니해도 압권은 “봄비”에 있다. 이곡은 덩키스(이정화)가 먼저 취입했던 곡으로, 두 보컬이 공통적으로 전달하는 정서는 공통적으로 애절함이지만, 이를 구현하는 방식에는 차이가 있다. 박인수의 목소리가 파워 넘치는 거칠고 투박한 질감이라면, 이정화의 목소리는 부드럽고 여린 애상적 질감으로 다가온다. “봄비”하면 박인수의 노래라고 각인된 것도 그와 같은 맛깔스러운 독특한 질감 때문일 것이다.
이 앨범에서 박인수와 쌍벽을 이루는 소울 가수라 할 만한 이는 송만수다. “빗속의 여인”, “그대는 바보”와, 군가 풍의 “베트남에서(녹색 유니폼)”을 불렀다(후자는 물론 호전적인 기상을 높이는 전통적 군가는 아니다. 김추자의 “월남에서 돌아온 김상사”의 ‘성공’에 힘입은 신중현의 후속타가 아닐까). 지금은 사회자로 명성을 날리고 있는 임성훈은 “미치겠구나”, “명동거리”, “떠도는 사나이” 등을 불렀다. 임성훈과 송만수는 박인수보다는 편한 목소리를 들려준다. 물론 이들의 음색이 비슷하게 느껴지는 건 일종의 ‘신중현 사단’의 ‘조련’ 덕분이 아니겠는가. 그뿐이랴. 발라드 가요(?) “내 마음을 모두 주오”나, 역시 단조인 “슬픈 고백”에서 허스키한 목소리의 임희숙 역시 김추자가 연상된다.
전체적으로 퀘션스의 연주는 라이브의 사운드 질감을 연상시키는 ‘생짜’의 느낌이 지배적이다. 특히 보컬들을 받쳐주는 역할을 충실히 수행하고 있는데 각 악기가 거의 ‘튀지 않는’ 수준으로 조율되어 있다. 다시 말해 객원 가수가 동반되었을지라도 퀘션스의 전체적인 사운드는 ‘밴드’의 음악인 것이다. 개성 넘치는 각각의 보컬들도 밴드라는 유기체 내에서 조화되도록 편곡되어 있다. 때때로 신중현(의 음악)과 보컬이 전부 행복하게 조화를 이루었던 것은 아니어서 때때로 서로 불협화음을 이루거나 보컬들이 ‘성공하면 떠나버리는’ 경우가 많았는데, ‘객원’ 가수를 기용해 밴드를 운용하는 시스템은 바로 이런 상황의 연속 속에서 택한 신중현의 차선이 아닐까 싶다.
앞서 소개한 기사를 보면 퀘션스는 ‘사이키델릭 밴드’였는데 여기서 그런 음색을 가장 잘 발현한 악기는, 때로는 고풍스러운 분위기를, 때로는 몽환적이고 기묘한 분위기를 창출하는 오르간이다. 기타의 경우 “기다리겠오(그 사람)”의 솔로 연주처럼 두드러지는 경우도 있지만 대개 기타는 부상하지 않는 것처럼 느껴지는 반면, 오르간은 배킹과 솔로를 오가며 전체 사운드를 주도하는 인상을 준다. “봄비”를 예로 들면, 보컬의 주요 멜로디를 오르간이 연주하거나 역으로 오르간의 독자 멜로디가 보컬의 주요 멜로디와 함께 융합된다. “그대는 바보”처럼 이색적인 멜로디를 연주하는 것도 역시 오르간이다.
이처럼 이 음반은 퀘션스의 ‘사이키델릭’ 사운드의 반주 하에 가수들의 ‘소울풀한’ 창법이 조우하는 ‘대중적인’ 앨범이라 할 수 있다(덩키스에서 보여준 ‘대곡’은 없다). 다른 곡을 차지하고서라도 당시 ‘소울 가요’가 무엇인가를 알려면 박인수의 “봄비”를 들으면 된다고 말해도 과언이 아닐 것 같다. ‘대중적인’ 접근에도 불구하고 이 음반이 왜 ‘대박’나지 않았는지는 다소 ‘의문’스럽지만. 20020921 | 최지선 fust@nownuri.net
"Shin Ji-hyun's questions and the answers to Soul singers
Not so long ago, a performance for the now-forgotten singer Park In-soo, “Remember Park In-Soo's Concert (July 9-10, 7:30 pm KBS 88 Gymnasium)” was held. After the dismantling of Dunkyi (Donkeys), Shin Ji-hyun led several (short-term) projects. It was the Shin Joong-hyun Orchestra, which was formed in the early 1970s, and the Zero Orchestra and Questions (the band name was used interchangeably with both Quests and Quests). The fame of Quests (or Shin Jung-hyun) at the time was that of 'Shin Jung-hyun's In-A-Kadda-Da-Vida (KLH 24)' which was released in July by recording 'Go Go Gala Party' civic center performance in Universal. Seans has a basic framework called "Band Accompaniment + Song of a Guest Singer." The main axis of the band is Shin Tae-hyun, Lee Tae-hyun (base), Kim Min-rang (organ), and Kim Dae-hwan (drum). Given that Lee Tae-hyun and Kim Min-rang are members who have been working together since the time of Dunquis, the quest is a form of succession and development. The singers who sang the sound produced by the band are ‘guest’ singers (singers who have worked with new artists such as Song Man-soo and Lim Sung-hoon and Park In-su, Lim Hee-sook, Kim Sang-hee and Kim Chu-ja). It is these compelling vocalists who lead the music. In particular, the most notable singer here is Park In-soo. Successfully making his official debut through this album, he is well known for his rich and rich creation. Maybe it's the best vocalist in Korea who is called a soul singer.
In this song, Park In-soo plays three songs in a row. The upbeat tempo “Hello,” which Yeo Soo (presumed by Lim Hee-sook) puts in a chord, shows a cool voice, and the “waiting for him” shows his voice as a screaming guitar in a slow tune. But the best part is "spring rain". This is a song that Dunquis (Lee Jung Hwa) first took. If Park's voice is rough and clunky, full of power, Lee's voice comes with a soft and lovable texture. If "Spring Rain" is stamped as Park's song, it may be because of such a delicious and unique texture.
Song Man-soo is a soul singer who pairs with Park In-soo on this album. "Woman in the Rain", "You Are a Fool", and a Gunga-style "Vietnam (Green Uniform)" (the latter is not, of course, a traditional militarist who promotes an aggressive climate.) The success of Kim Chu-za's "Kim Sangsa from Vietnam" Wouldn't it be the successor of Shin, Shin-hyun). Lim Sung-hoon, who is now known as a moderator, sang "I'm going crazy," "Myeongdong Street," and "Wandering Man." Lim Sung-hoon and Song Man-soo speak a more comfortable voice than Park In-soo. Of course, it seems that the sound of these sounds is similar to the 'training' of 'Shin Joong-hyun Satan'. That's it. The ballad song (?) "Give me all my heart", but also in the forging "Sad confession" Huh Lim's husky voice is also associated with Kim Chu-ja.
Overall, Quest's performance is dominated by a 'live' feel reminiscent of live sound textures. In particular, they play a role of supporting the vocals, and each instrument is tuned to a level that is almost “not popping”. In other words, even with a guest singer, the overall sound of Quests is the music of the band. Each individual vocal is arranged to harmonize in an organism called a band. Sometimes Shin-Hyun's (music) and vocals were not all in harmony with each other, so sometimes they made discord with each other or `` vocals left '' when they succeeded. I think it is Shin Jung-hyun's lane chosen in this continuous situation.
In the previous article, Quests was a psychedelic band, where the instrument that best represented the tone is an organ that sometimes creates an old-fashioned atmosphere, sometimes a dreamy and bizarre atmosphere. In the case of guitars, they can stand out like the soloing of “I'm waiting” (usually), but usually the guitar feels injured, while the organ gives the impression of driving the entire sound through backing and solos. Take “spring rain” as an example, the organ plays the main melody of the vocal, or conversely, the original melody of the organ is fused with the main melody of the vocal. It is also an organ that plays unusual melodies like "You are a fool."
As such, this album is a "popular" album where singers' "soulful" encounters under the accompaniment of Quest's "Psychedelic" sounds (there's no "big song" shown by Dunkes). It is no exaggeration to say that you can listen to Park's "Spring Rain" if you want to know what 'Soul Song' was at that time. First side is a less favourite of SJH. With organ, female backing vocals. The 8th track, track B3 is different, slower in drive and is also one of the better tracks, with very emotional singing (male voice). Also track 9 is similar. These tracks make the album very original and unique. Last two tracks are psychpop tracks sung by female vocals."

Side A5 Funky Broadway is a cover song of Wilson Picket and great psychedelic improvisation!! and Side B has a only one song. The song is a cover song In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida of Iron Butterfly. This cover play of In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida of Iron Butterfly is a legend, till now. I think that this live song is a best of best Korean psychedelic live Jam!! and great and very very nice noise feast. The singing is not really good, but the 16 minute performance surely is. With great electric guitars,.. Funny to hear some members being intruduced as "Ringo Star"... and "Mr.Soul man".... First side (as track 2 on CD) has a few song oriented tracks which are less interesting, still enjoyable, but the second last track (or 4th track), is great psychrock too. Worth investigating. The recording is actually a bootleg recording, but the quality is good enough. Comes in beautiful mini-LP sleeve."

서울시민회관, 흐느적거리는 ‘삶의 정원’이 되다
음반 제목은 무언가 이상하다. “인-어-카다-다-비다”라니? “In-A-Kadda-Da-Vida”는 “In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida”의 오기이다. 당시의 음반들에서 이런 오기는 흔한 것이지만 이 음반에서의 오기는 이 음반의 성격을 드러내는 부분이라서 다시 한 번 짚어볼 필요가 있다. 한마디로 이 음반은 ‘불법음반’이다. 그렇다고 정규 음반을 똑같이 복제한 단순한 해적반(pirate copy)은 아니며, 요즘 말로 하면 부틀렉(bootleg) 음반이다. ‘라이브’를 담았다는 것 – 부틀렉이 모두 그렇지는 않지만 비율적으로 상당부분을 차지하고 있다는 점에서 – 과 원저작자의 허락없이 음반으로 만들어졌다는 점에서 볼 때 부틀렉 음반으로 분류하는 것이 마땅할 것이다. 더욱 재미난 사실은 ‘라이브’를 녹음하고 부틀렉으로 발매한 주체가 정규음반을 발매하는 음반사와 동일한 곳이라는 점이다.
1969년 말 덩키스를 해체하고 잠깐의 뉴 덩키스 활동이후 신중현은 퀘션스를 결성해서 그룹 활동을 이어갔다. 퀘션스는 김홍탁이 이끌었던 히 화이브와 함께 당대 싸이키델릭의 대표적인 그룹으로 평가되었다. 아이언 버터플라이(Iron Butterfly)의 “In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida”는 당시 한국의 그룹 사운드들이 자신의 싸이키델릭 그룹으로서의 정체성을 드러내기 위한 중요한 수단이었다. 이 음반의 제목이 [신중현의 In-A-Kadda-Da-Vida]라고 붙은 것도 이 곡에 대한 당시 그룹 사운드의 ‘컬트’와 ‘오마주’를 짐작할 수 있는 대목이다.
음반은 퀘션스의 객원 보컬이던 송만수의 사회로 진행된다. 첫 무대를 장식할 김추자와 동양방송(TBC)의 드라마 주제곡이었던 “님은 먼 곳에”를 소개하는 목소리에 이어 박수소리가 나오고 그 뒤 김추자가 “님은 먼 곳에”와 “월남에서 돌아온 김상사”를 연이어 부른다. 퀘션스의 연주는 가수의 노래를 위한 반주로는 흠잡을 데 없다. 김추자가 무대를 떠나고, 사회를 보던 송만수가 “떠나야 할 그 사람”을 부른다. 2분 40초를 지나며, 기타 솔로를 시작으로 (사회자가 연주를 시작하기 전 예고했던) 싸이키델릭 즉흥연주가 시작된다. 다른 음반에서는 좀처럼 들을 수 없는 신중현 기타의 새로운 모습에 고개를 갸웃거리게 되는 동안 박인수가 노래하는 “훵키 브로드웨이”(Funky Broadway: 원곡은 윌슨 피켓(Wilson Picket))의 2분 10초를 지나면서 시작되는 신중현의 기타 솔로와 김대환의 드럼, 박인수의 보컬이 어우러지는 사운드는 ‘세종문화회관이 있던 바로 그 자리에서 이런 공연이 있을 수 있었을까’라는 놀라움을 낳는다. 더불어 신중현이 왜 한국 록의 대부로 평가되는가라는 ‘의문’도 사라지게 된다.
뒷면 수록곡은 “In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida” 단 한 곡이다. 사회자의 멘트는 이 음반에 담긴 실황이 ‘Go Go Gala Party’ 전부는 아니었으며, 퀘션스 외에도 다른 그룹 사운드가 함께 했던 공연임을 짐작하게 해 준다. 또한 이 곡이 앞면의 수록곡들보다 시간적으로 앞서 연주되었다는 것을 암시하는 멘트도 들린다. 이는 LP의 주행 시간의 기술적 한계로 인한 것으로 짐작되지만 ‘부틀렉 음반다운’ 면모로 보여서 웃음짓게 되지만 오르간의 전주를 시작으로 문제의 곡이 연주되면 저런 웃음은 사라지고 묘한 정신작용으로 대체된다. ‘소문에 따르면(according to legend)’ “In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida”는 “In the Garden of Eden”을 약에 취한 보컬이 정확히 발음할 수 없어 만들어낸 소리라고 하는데, 그게 무슨 의미인지는 직접 음악을 들어보는 게 가장 좋을 듯하다. 한국 록의 ‘잊혀진 황금기’에 대해서는 이런저런 소문을 듣는 것보다는 이 트랙을 듣는 게 훨씬 낫다. 헤비한 기타와 베이스의 리프가 이끌면서 기타, 드럼, 오르간의 거장적 솔로가 수놓으면서 록 음악이 보여줄 수 있는 건 모두 보여주는 한 바탕의 소음의 향연이 펼쳐진다. 연주나 노래에 대한 이런저런 평은 ‘그때 장난이 아니었구나’라는 감탄에 압도당할 뿐이다.
1972년 큰 화재로 소실되면서 ‘서울시민회관’에서 있었던 파티는 모두 막을 내린다. 박정희 정권의 말기에 다시 건립된 세종문화회관은 문턱이 더욱 높아졌고, 이제 더 이상 ‘Go Go Gala Party’ 는 없었다. 20021002 | 신효동 terror87@chol.com

P.S. 히 화이브의 [Merry Christmas 사이키데릭 사운드](1969)의 뒷면 2번째 수록곡 “징글벨((Jingle Bell)”의 중반부(1분55초-9분 20초)에 등장하는 “In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida”와 비교해 들어보면 더 재미있을 듯 하다. 물론 히 화이브의 레코딩이 시기적으로 조금 앞서 있으며, 보컬이 없는 인스트루멘털(당시 말로 ‘경음악’!)이다. 1970년 2월 5일 <일간스포츠>에 의하면 그 달 3일 코스모스 살롱(오비스 캐빈)에서 히 화이브와 신중현과 퀘션스 두 “엘레키 그룹”이 6시 30분부터 2시간 이상 “환각음악”을 연주하는 “합동 연주회” 가졌다는 기록이 있다. 한편 당시에는 신예 그룹 사운드였던 비스(The Bees)가 비슷한 시점에 발표한 음반(오스카레코드, ORP 1002, 1970년 10월25일)에도 “In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida”의 스튜디오 레코딩이 수록되어 있다(단, 이 음반은 가수 지훈과의 합동 음반으로 비스의 노래와 연주는 네 트랙만 수록되어 있다).

Established as a memorial hall for Rhee Syngman, who was elected as the first president in 1956, the 'Unam Hall' was renamed as 'Seoul Civic Center' after the 4.19 Revolution, where they held major events and performances for over a decade until it was destroyed by fire in 1972. It was a representative cultural space of Seoul. This was also the space where the Playboy Cup National Group Sound Contest was held three times each year. For those who only remember the name of the Sejong Center, which was newly established in 1978, it would be hard to imagine that the Seoul Civic Center was in the same position as the Sejong Center. Quest's In-A-Kadda-Da-Vida by Shin Joong-hyun is a recording of an event that took place when the building was functioning as a cultural space for Seoul citizens before the Sejong Center was built. The event was a performance called Go Go Gala Party, and the album was a live performance.
The album title is something strange. “In-A-Kadda-Da-Vida” is the origin of “In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida”. These misconceptions are common in the records of the time, but the misconceptions on this record reveal the character of this record, so it is worth pointing out again. In a word, this record is an illegitimate record. It is not like a simple copy of a regular record, but rather like a bootleg record from these days. The fact that it contains "live" – but not all of them, but proportionally, – and because they are made of records without the original author's permission, they should be classified as bootlegs. Even more interesting is that the subject that recorded 'Live' and released as Bootleg is the same place as the record company that releases regular albums.
After the demolition of Donkies in late 1969 and after a brief New Donkies activity, Shin Jung-hyun formed Quests and continued his group activities. Quests, along with Hi-Hive, led by Kim Hong-Tak, were evaluated as a representative group of psychedelic contemporary. Iron Butterfly's “In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida” was an important vehicle for Korean group sounds to reveal their identity as a psychedelic group. The title of the album, "Shin Joong-hyun's In-A-Kadda-Da-Vida", is also a way to guess the cult and homage of the group's sound.
The album is performed by Song Man-soo, a guest vocal of Quests. Applause was followed by the voice that introduces “Thu is far away”, which is the theme song of Kim Chuzawa and TBC's drama, which will be the first stage, followed by Kim Chu-ja's “Nim is far away” and “Kim Sangsa from Vietnam” I sing one after another. The performance of Quests is an impeccable accompaniment for the singer's song. Kim Chu-za leaves the stage, and Song Man-soo, who sees society, sings "the person who needs to leave." After two minutes and forty seconds, the psychedelic improvisation begins, starting with the guitar solo (previously announced by the host). Park begins with 2 minutes and 10 seconds of Inky's "Funky Broadway" song while he's beating his head on the new look of a discreet guitar guitar that's rarely heard on other recordings. The sound of Shin Ji-hyun's guitar solo, Kim Dae-hwan's drums, and Park In-soo's vocals is a surprise that 'there could be such a performance at the very place where the Sejong Center was.' In addition, the question of why Shin Shin-hyun is regarded as the godfather of Korean rock becomes obvious.
The song on the back is only one song, "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida." The presenter's comment tells us that the live performance of this album was not the "Go Go Gala Party", but was performed by other group sounds in addition to the quests. There is also a comment suggesting that the song was performed ahead of time in the front tracks. This may be due to the technical limitations of the LP's driving time, but it appears to be a `` Bootlec record-down '' aspect, but it makes you laugh. However, when the song in question starts playing, the laughter disappears and is replaced by a strange mind. “According to legend” “In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida” is a sound produced by a vocal incapable of pronounced “In the Garden of Eden”. It is best to listen to music directly. It's much better to listen to this track than to hear rumors about the “forgotten golden age” of Korean rock. Guided by heavy guitar and bass riffs, the grand solo of guitars, drums, and organs embroiders, giving you a feast of background noise that shows everything rock music can show. Lost in a big fire in 1972, the party at the Seoul Civic Center ends. The Sejong Center, which was rebuilt at the end of the Park Chung Hee regime, has raised the threshold and there is no longer a Go Go Gala Party.

Radioshow comments : "How am I" starts like Iron Butterfly's In-A-Gada-Da-vida with some church organ. The song and singing that follows takes it first back to a kind of pop-song. Technically the singing overloads a bit because this is a (still somewhat ok quality) bootleg recording. The music repeats a certain rock pattern. But then it builds up quickly to psychedelic heights, first with organ, then after a while with electric wa-wa guitar outbursts on a bass repetition, until it comes back to the song. This track especially makes the recording interesting. Most of the rest is much more into mainstream territory."
Folkie Jin : "This record is live recording. Side A recordings are pop styled, but Side B recordings are psychedelic styled. Especially Side B 3 "How am I?" is a great Korean psychedelic live recording.Shin jung-hyun thought to himself that she could also sing in Jefferson Airplane moods. So I think that this song was similar to 'White Rabbit' of Jefferson airplane!! Musical performance by Questions of Shin Jung-Hyun. I think that this record is a her best recording and one of Korean psychedelic best live recordings!! Highly recommendable record!!"
The album's live recording is very primitive and becomes disappointing for that matters. The rock part on the first site is not getting through except in a primitive and unfit way. It is only after Questions suddenly break through with their psychedelic sound it becomes a bit better, while the vocal part on "A Cup of Coffee" is not recorded very well. It even disturbs the sound. It is in fact only "How Can I", with the longest the psychedelic instrumental improvisation that goes berserk which makes the record more collectible. If only this would have been recorded a bit better...

Kim Sang-hee was selected as the winner of the Korean Culture Awards. She reached the very top. The recording of the performance at that time was Kim Sang-Hee's Recycling Show-Universal, KLH 7, March 70.
It is an expensive rare record, one of the best alums. Bae Sam-ryong was in charge of the society, while Shin-hyun, Quests and the Women's University Orchestra were in charge of the session. The best part of this live record is the psychedelic scent. The vibrant 7-minute and 50-second masterpiece "How Do" Quest's exciting ad-lib play is brilliant enough to evoke the listener's elasticity. Tell the extremes. In addition, you can't miss the "Ulsan Big Baby", which is different from the rock version.
Kim Sang-hee, who expanded her career, made her first appearance at the Copa Cabana Club Stage in Mugyo-dong, which was popular with young people.

Her voice is really lovely voice and I love it!! So Side A songs have a soft pop and rock sound with string arrangements and the SideB songs are in psychedelic rock style. The side B songs ? are included in Questions debut album. Recommended !!"
The tracks with the female singer are in fact mostly very common. The dominating Questions tracks with male singer are however must have heard tracks, especially the first two tracks.
