This album is driven well by a light and pleasant easy listening version of trot music and light pop in full orchestral range (light lush strings, with here and there a small sax solo, an electric piano arrangement,..) and with soft rock band (with very small parts of picking electric guitar, and very basic arrangements of bass and soft drums). Although this is not the kind of music expected supposed to be liked automatically by western music lovers, I still list it (for CD1 especially) as a rather pleasant and relaxing example of the commercial area. The singer I guess had known previously recorded arrangements that might have been more interesting, but a cheap-selling collection like this first focuses on good sound quality first (with a preference for later recordings, even when the singer aged already and re-recorded it all), rather than compiling original old recordings from original LP’s as a historical document, with ‘easy listening’ first, and with enough effort put into the whole technical and dynamic sound range part, which in the end in fact (oddly enough) is just fine and rewarding enough. At least …it still works for me for a time frame of about 10-15 songs, which makes 18 similar approaches on CD1 already a bit long. The second CD is with more studio arrangements and except for here and there fine bigger combination such arrangements often obviously are a bit from a lower budget studio setting. The trot style and emotions that way much more easily become a bit more easily tiresome that way and it could make you sleepy. Some of it used stomping rhythms and some extra keyboards, but I still cannot make up my mind what to make of its effect in the end. Anyhow, expect trot music on this one.
