This is a single that has been reissued late 2019. On the first track with a very much live energy you can hear a live blues/jazz band with soulful jazz singer rocking the beat. The recording is wild but not unusual for a mixed blues/jazz band performing this late night. "Tequila" is a know cover. It is one of the only Latin band performances (mixed with a bluesy jazz drive) I heard from South Korea. As a live performance this sounds fine but no absolute must have. They didn't release a full reissue because the masters were damaged on the other tracks. It is a bit a shame they didn't use another LP to remaster the rest of the tracks.

'라틴 타악기 연주자 류복성이 1978년에 발표한 대표곡 '혼자 걷는 명동길'의 싱글 발매!' 재즈 드러머로 커리어를 시작한 류복성은 이봉조 악단과 재즈 메신저스등을 거치며 초창기 한국 재즈씬의 토대를 닦은 인물 중 한 명이다. 특히 아프로 큐반을 비롯한 라틴 재즈에 심취한 그는 라틴팝과 재즈를 주 레퍼토리로 한 '라틴코리아나'를 결성, 1972년 첫 음반을 발매한다. 이 때 세 멤버 중 일인이 강병철과 삼태기의 그 강병철. 류복성은 자신의 음악과 밴드로 활동하는 것 외에도 록, 포크, 재즈 등 장르를 망라한 여러 가요 음반에 퍼커션 세션으로 활발히 참여했다. 대표적인 작품으로는 한대수의 초기작들, 코리아재즈퀸텟 '78, 무지개퀸텟, 나미와 머슴아들의 음반이 있다. 류복성은 우연한 기회를 통해 국제기획의 최동권 사장을 만나고 자신의 음악적 청사진을 구체화할 기회를 갖는다. 국내 가요사에서 유래가 없는 재즈오케스트라 편성에, 보사노바와 부갈루 등 여러 스타일의 곡들로 가득 채운 야심찬 라틴팝-재즈 음반 '류복성과 신호등'은 이렇게 탄생한다. 편곡과 오케스트라 지휘는 오랜 동료인 정성조가 맡았고, 한국 재즈신에서(류복성과 함께) 고군분투했던 뮤지션들이 총동원돼 레코딩에 참여했다. 류복성의 대표곡으로, 이용복을 통해 최초 발표됐던 '혼자 걷는 명동길'이 그 자신의 버전으로 처음 수록된 것도 이 음반이다. 이번 재발매는 류복성을 대표하는 명곡 '혼자 걷는 명동길'과 척 리오(Chuck Rio)의 라틴팝 명곡, 'Tequila'의 번안 버전인 '기분이 좋아'를 B 사이드에 수록한 7인치 싱글 에디션이다. 류복성과 신호등의 오리지널 로고 컨셉에 맞춘 세가지 컬러 바이닐과 검정색 바이닐, 네가지 버전으로 발매되며 총 600장 한정반(각 150매)으로 제작된다. * 류복성이 1978년 발표한 동명 앨범의 수록곡 최초 재발매 * 45회전 7인치 싱글 디스크 * 신호등 컬러 3종과 검정 디스크 총 네 가지 버전(선택 가능) 수록곡

"First-ever reissue of the eponymous tracks from Ryu Bok-Sung’s 1978 album, Available in four colors: black or the 3 ‘traffic light’ colors (colors inserted at random)

Ryu Bok-Sung, who began his career as a jazz drummer, was a central figure in the early jazz scene of Korea, through his work with the Lee Bong-jo orchestra and the Jazz Messengers. With a particular love for Latin jazz styles – such as Afro-Cuban – Ryu formed the band ‘Latin Koreana’, which released its debut album in 1972. Latin pop and jazz made up the bulk of this band’s repertoire. Among his band mates was Kang Byeong-cheol, from ‘Kang Byeong-cheol and the Baskets’. In addition to works to his and his band’s name, Ryu was also very active as a session percussionist in various other gayo records, encompassing genres including rock, folk, and jazz. Some of the more noteworthy works among these include the early works by Han Dae-soo, Lee Pan-geun & the Korea Jazz Quintet ‘78, the Rainbow Quintet, and the albums of ‘Nami and Franco Romano Band’. Via a chance meeting with Choi Dong-gwon, the proprietor of International Productions, Ryu was afforded the opportunity to bring his musical conceptions to life. Thus came to be the ambitious Latin pop-jazz album, , which featured songs in styles ranging from bossa nova, boogaloo, and others, played by a jazz orchestra ensemble unheard of in Korea’s gayo history. Longtime collaborator Jung Seong-jo participated as song arranger and orchestra conductor. Other credited musicians included various other jazz veterans who had been active alongside Ryu in Korea’s jazz scene. This album also features Ryu’s first rendition of ‘Walking the Streets of Myeongdong Alone’, a tune that was originally released by Lee Yong-bok.

This reissue is a 7” single edition of Ryu’s most famous track, ‘Walking the Streets of Myeongdong Alone’, with an adapted version of ‘Tequila’ (under the title ‘Feeling Good’), the Latin pop masterpiece by Chuck Rio, on the b-side. A limited run of 600 copies will be pressed, in four vinyl colors (150 copies each): black + 3 other colors from the color scheme of the original logo of Ryu Bok-Sung and the Traffic Lights (inserted at random)."
