김정구 - Kim Jeong-Goo / Kim Junggu / Kim Jungku
I guess this is a reissue of an original old LP (with 12 songs), containing songs that often have folk songs origins, and which show a funny marching song/working song related happy and gay nature, occasionally with also a more melancholic song. In that way the tonal and singing variation in the songs is pretty varied. The arrangements, with strings, brass instruments and more show the best kind of arrangements where in each few seconds other instruments dominate at occasions

현인 - Hyun In / Hyun-In
성인 / 트로트 [50년대~80년대] I have already listened to this double album a few times before but never came to review it. It is a double CD in the best possible Trot-based music. Hyun In not only has a good voice. The arrangements and songs give a certain highly pleasant, even frolic atmosphere. The singing is ageless with a certain vibration. The arrangements on the first CD are perfectly produced and arranged, fresh and enjoyable to a high degree, making me realise best why I like

Tracks you can find here: 유성기로 듣던 일제시대 풍자 해학송 / The satire of Japanese imperialists heard during the Domido/Meteor period * 12 거리의 신풍경 / A new kind of scenery of the street This is a satirical song with a small trot and a bit more modern song and jazz flavours and a humorous touch. It is an original cabaret-like song, very much in a westernised 30s 'modern' style. Tracks with * are essential listens, highly suitable to present on a western show too. 유성기로 듣던 가요사 / The song tha

V.A.: 유성기로 듣던 가요사 (1925~1945)
This is a collection of early Korean records, some of which shows some unique and some bizarre material. This collection dates from 1925-1933 in correct order of dates. * The first track for instance is like a folk song with triple or so singers singing in some specific style with an ethnic flavour which has similarities to characteristics from somewhere else to compare with, possibly like a certain African village singing for instance. * The next two tracks show piano and vo
