신중현 세나그네 / 신중현과 세 나그네 - Shin Jung-Hyun & Senageune / Three Travelers (Wanderers) / Three Strange
This first track is dirty hardrock-styled with a garage/punk-like straightness, and some additional heavy fuzz-guitar solo elements. In general it continues in this raw (hard) rock style. In some way it has also a very 'eastern' vibe of hard rock. Perhaps also some traditionals or at least something of Korean styles and melodies (especially on track 5) were transformed into this hard rock style? I find it very enjoyable and very original this way. The 6th track has some intro

스페샬코너 - 5th Fingers & Top Song
Rockn’roll and early beat music, all cover versions. Most of it are just 60's covers. It has more special moments, which for us are even somewhat "exotic" because of an almost garage way of their performance, like “Paint it Black” (sung in Korean) which I find styllistically pretty "raw", almost like garage-psych. I personally enjoy this. A 1. Favorites are the Kore

트윈폴리오 / 트윈 폴리오- Twin Folio
송창식 Song, Chang-Sik & Yoon, Hyung-Ju 윤형주 트윈 - 폴리오 걸작 Especially on some of the early tracks on this compilation I recognise that for the close harmonies and qualities in their separate voices, Twin Folio surely are extremely gifted and talented. Their choice of songs however suffers possibly from the censorship of government control, so the choice isn’t always the best. Their harmonies follow the traditions from let’s say Blue Diamonds (who were an interpretation of Everly Br

태진아 / Tae jin Ae / Tae Jin-Ah
태진아: Golden 2CD Some people would wonder why I list this highly commercial artist, but to me, he’s the living proof how music can be turned into a Las Vegas show. Let’s first add funk and disco to trot, and people would swing to the obvious. Always up tempo, always flashing, always loud and a show-off every second. For a track or two like this, I think it is rather funny/entertaining (I would pick out track 3 of this compilation to illustrate this). Then we have several, in f

트리퍼스 - Trippers / 김훈과 트리퍼스 / Kim Hoon and Trippers
I have no idea if this pop band is interesting at all, but because of the name and next description I decided to list them anyhow. I guess there might be a few trippier or funky/rockier moments amongst more mainstream pop sounds. On Acid Mother's Temple's (Sakomoto's) page http://speedguru.blog45.fc2.com/blog-entry-12.html I found : "The sound is very similar with japanese 60's garage (we call "Group Sounds"), Trippers play sometime like Procol Harum sometime like Beach Boys
